Yikes, two critters no one wants to deal with... well, we are! In the past couple of weeks, we have removed the trees from behind the building. In doing so, we have eliminated the superhighway that was "Squirrel Alley". The little buggers had worn their way through the eves of our dated building... causing excessive damage and a huge mess. Once the trees were removed, the highway shut down and with a peak over 20' in the air, I doubt even the most skilled squirrel will be able to leap to the eves.
The Carpenter Ants... yup, another nasty critter. They've successfully managed to eat away a large section of a major beam along the back wall. Luckily we noticed it before any structural integrity was jeapordized.... but still - good grief! Another beam is going up this week, thanks to the hard work of Matt Everett (You Rock Matt!). This 18x10x17 beam will need to be installed in place of the damaged one. No small task - yet, one that needs to be done.
I will try to update everyone once the work is completed. Perhaps I'll even attach some images!
**UPDATE: 09/01/13: The carpenter ants have been fumigated and a new beam has been ordered. Work continues!
